I switched to Combat Warriors as my home gym in Tulsa but I originally started at Clinch in Owasso and they carry on the Machado way taught by Christian Derr.
They welcome all of their Clinch brother's & sister's with open arms and genuinely care towards seeing you progress in your Martial Arts journey.
Great gym and great coaches. I would recommend everyone in the area to sign up
The courses are great for any level jiu-jitsu. Anyone looking to get into martial arts is welcomed. Great way to burn some calories. Weights are also accessible. Friendly and familia environment.
Answers To Commonly Questions
No, we welcome all newcomer's to experience Jiu-Jitsu as it's a journey not a race. All we ask is to show up with good hygiene.
Traditionally jiu-jitsu has been practiced in the Kimono also known as the GI. We use rash guards combined with spats on our no-GI days. Although not required to start we encourage grabbing a pair once you become a student to make your experience enjoyable. Sportswear with no zippers are perfect to start, but tend to rip. We recommend compression style sportswear and board shorts.
progress?
We understand duty calls in your life so while we would love for you to make it to every class to get the most out of your membership experience. A minimum of 3 times a week would be optimal for you to see progress, consistency is key and each rep counts.
YES! We welcome people of all ages to hop on the mat and family sign ups get a month on us for FREE. We train our students to use a technical approach to sparring so we can minimize risk for everyone.
We encourage all of our members to try a competition at least once on their journey as it helps to build confidence from experience, though not required for belt promotions. For promotions all we ask is for you to show up and work at it each day.
Jiu-Jitsu training?
Not at all. Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport that can pose some risk and physical attributes can help you minimize it for the sport.
We recommend you communicate any physical limitations or concerns with your training partners & instructors. That way, we continue to have a safe training environment.
